A
s this school year came closer to its end, the fourth Uturn event began. People streamed in just before 8 o’clock, finding their friends and their seats. Soon the lights dimmed and the event began.
I was captivated by the dramas. The first, about two stupid pilots, got a huge laugh. I could explain it, but you really need to see these funny skits yourself. The second drama left us all thinking rather than laughing. It depicted the invisible battle that surrounds each and every one of us. The devil tempted the main character with greed and drunkenness. She gave into these temptations and became bound by her sin, just like many of us who want that instant pleasure or are seeking fulfilment by buying everything we desire. Like the rest of us, there was nothing she could do to escape the punishment. Though she never deserved it, Jesus came and took her place. He was hit and kicked and beaten to death by the devil and other demons, who revelled in their apparent victory. Suddenly, triumphantly, Jesus conquered death and the powers of darkness! With His strength, He protected the main character; by His authority, He removed the devil. It’s an invisible battle, but very real nonetheless. For those who recognize this battle and the victory Jesus has in their life, the memory of this drama is still vivid.
Our MC, Chris, gave away two more shirts donated from Master’s Way. Four volunteers competed for the shirts by showing us their hoola-hoop skills.
The Uturn Band, a little larger this time, played familiar songs like One Way and Created as well as songs new to Uturn, like When Times Get Hard, Strong Tower (by Kutless), Mighty To Save (by Hillsong), and Everlasting (by Brian Doerkson).
Craig gave us some input on life. He compared the exams we do in school to the exam we face in life. He challenged us to think about the consequences we face if we are not prepared for these exams. Thankfully, he also showed us how to pass the exam of life with a perfect grade! Curious? Read the About Us section of Uturn and read John 3:16 from the Bible.
